Make Firrefox SCREAM! Faster than Chrome!

I was going through my old issues of PC World, and I found out that Firefox is actually optimized for dialup.

There is an article in the January 2008 issue about sweet firefox hacks, and I found that this one makes firefox faster than chrome.

This works on all Operating systems that support Firefox.

Steps:

Back up the Firefox registry. If you don't know how to do this, go google it becuase i'm too lazy to tell you how.

1. Type about:config in to the address bar. Promise Mozilla that you will be careful.
2. In the filter field, type network.http
3. Double-click network.http.pipelining and set it to true
4. Double-click network.http.proxy.pipelining and set it to true
5. Double-click network.http.pipelining.maxrequests and set it to any number higher than 4. The best number for you will vary by things like your ISP and Computer. 14 works for me.
6.Lastly, right click anywhere on the page and create a new integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set it to 0

ive done this trick before, but i cut it off due to the fact that certain websites (such as this one) started screwing up and acting very funny. once i turned it off, they worked fine. basically, this site just showed random icons and other icons in the wrong places. so, do it at your own risk.

The STMBFF works fine for me. Mabey you set something too high.

you said you found this from an issue of pc world from 08? that was when firefox 2 was out, 3 wasn't released till july. mozilla may have changed the whole dial-up thing due to advancing technology. also, on the maxrequests thing, the highest number it can go to is 8. also, if you want 3.5 fast without doing this trick, then type jit in the filter box and couble click on the thing that says chrome to make it true.

Whatever. It works great for me, using ff 3.5, so im going to keep it that way.

Maxrequests can go up to whatever you want, unless it somehow got set to string, in witch case, reinstall firefox.

well, after a while, webpages that will just screw up. it does it on my laptop and the family computer. im telling you, it's weird.
