Wow we really are reaching the final stretch of episodes. This is gonna be a gruelling two weeks.

I mean wow I did not expect Gibbs' death at the beginning to happen so fast. It just raised the stakes considerably even if we just lost a character a lot of us really liked. Damn you Richie :grr:

And Mayor Carson's return was neat. I wasn't expecting cybernetic enhancements alongside Mario's powers but I suppose it still works anyway. The fight between them was well done too, highlighting how hopeless it almost was until Mario tricked him into electrocuting himself in the pool. (Also I'm really glad to see the pool on screen again :D )

Overall this was a great episode with a fantastic cliffhanger. And with how things are going the final two episodes are going to be insane.

Carson's powers, and robotic Kano-esque eye, were really neat! I didn't think Gibbs would die in this episode, and so early, to boot! However, back to Carson, that fight with Mario near the pool was really short; I think he's gotta return, for all the enhancements he's gotta have, he was taken out with no sweat. Overall, I'm really hyped for the last two episodes! Things are gettin' intense!

I'm really excited for the season finale, we're really in the final stretch now. Like I said last time, I will try to determine the identity of the Koopa after the next episode airs. And with that, time to list what I liked.

I think this episode was best in the dialogue department. While in some other episodes, I found the acting somewhat weak, this episode handled it VERY well. Though this episode had little to no heavy action scenes, I gotta admit, when Jeckle snapped that cops neck, I was genuinely disturbed, so good job. Mayor Carson was both a pro and a con in this episodes plot, since I'm just mentioning the pros right now, I'll just say I LOVE the action and dialogue he brought to the table.

Now moving to critiques, I'll just start with Mayor Carson, as others have said, the fight certainly felt to short and all we got to see him do was run really fast and stare at Mario with a laser eye for some reason. However, I will forgive all that if you bring him back to show off some more powers in season 2 or something. I'm quite certain that he wouldn't die so simply considering that he had so much power, so bringing him back would make sense anyways. Also, I had mixed feelings about Gibbs dying in this episode, at first, I told myself that you kept him alive after the torture in order to build his character, but quite frankly, I don't believe we learned much more about him at all since his torture. Therefore, keeping him alive, only to have him die before at least saving Mario's life or something; didn't sit well with me. Now you could argue that his death will be used as a further reason for Mario to fight the Koopa, and I suppose that's true, but if you would have let Gibb's character grow a bit more before killing him off, I think it would have hit us harder.

Its gonna be hard for me to come to any conclusions until the season ends. As of now, you might be planning something much bigger in upcoming episodes, and so if any of my critiques were to harsh or outlandish, I'd understand. Though this episode wasn't quite as good as the last, I'd like to reiterate that the dialogue definitely saved it. 7/10 .

I know I haven't been saying much on the past episodes aside from ........2! Seriously Nitsua?
Anyway, one thing that stood out in the last episode that I really liked was the dream sequence from Mario's point of view. It was really well made for such a long shot, the mirror, and the brief appearance of Luigi. Such an awesome scene!

Anyway, as for this episode, just when we think the stakes couldn't be any higher, each episode is really building up to the final.

Also note from self: "NEVER READ THE COMMENTS, even if it's just one BEFORE YOU HAVE FINISHED WATCHING THE EPISODE!" I looked at one comment and got spoiled John Gibbs has died. Thanks internet! :grr: It's just as bad when they were giving away spoilers from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, especially the big one, which I will not say.
But yeah, John Gibbs death was totally unexpected. I guess because most of us think of him as the Commissioner Gordon from The Dark Knight Trilogy, so most of us, thought he would live, despite his injuries. Unless you give us a death fake-out, like they did with us in The Dark Knight, but who knows. It does raise the stakes, and it does make the Goombas more intimidating, even though his death was more from a natural cause from being beaten, rather than being murdered directly. Though I will say that maybe we should have spent a little bit more time with him, so his death will hit us harder.

The episode is pretty solid, and the threat keeps on building. The scenes with Mayor Carson and Mario is well done. Though it seemed a little awkward how he ran into the pool. Good plan by Mario though. His death is definitely intense, and different, and the effects definitely show. You can tell the effects is not top notch, but it is the great amount you would see in a sic-fi/drama TV show, so whoever did do the effects did a good job. Especially with the electricity in the water. The neck snap was quite "yikes." And not only does the suspense get bigger with the deaths, but with Denise kidnapped, and Mario suiting up, I am hyped fro the last two episodes!

I can definitely say it will be hard to move onto another Season, but depending on how this ends, it will be interesting to see what you will move onto if Denise lives after this.
