Are Wario and Waluigi brothers?

This has been bugging me for awhile. In the Mario games, it is never directly stated that Wario and Waluigi are related, though many people assume they are. Season 1 of Stupid Mario Bros. seemed to reflect this -Wario introduced Waluigi as his partner, not his brother. There are also several other times that they refer to each other as friends.

Despite this, however, they are still often called the Wario Bros., both by fans and by the other characters. So are they actually related, or was this term coined because it's quicker and less awkward than saying "Wario and Waluigi?"

i do believe that they are brothers considering the fact that in the games they are the anti Mario and Luigi; Mario and Luigi are brothers therefore Wario and Waluigi are brothers

that should clear up that dealio...

In Nintendo game, possibly. In Stupid Mario Brothers, no, they are just partners.

No one knows for sure, in some games Nintendo makes it seems like they are, but in others no, but as for Stupid Mario Brothers, no, unless they are long lost brothers.

Actually I heard somewhere that they are cousins, which makes more sense.

I heard that too, but it wasn't about Waluigi, some think Wario is Luigi & Mario's cousin.

Wario and Waluigi are rumor brothers. There's no back story on any way they can be brothers or something else.
Mario and Luigi are twin brothers. Even though Luigi is taller, Mario was born first.
Wario is believed to be a cousin to Mario and Luigi.
But for Waluigi, no one knows.

One of the Mario Brothers parents are related to Wario's mother or father as brother and/or sister.
But if Waluigi was born by the same mother than Wario is his brother. If Wario's mother left him or if his father married Waluigi's mother first than Wario's mother than that means they are either half-brothers or step-brothers.

We have no story about their parents. Without knowing, we'll never know if Wario and Waluigi are brothers.

For me i think Wario and Waluigi are brothers and are cousins to Mario and Luigi!!!! If you really look at Wario and Waluigi, they look almost alike, like they are brothers!!! Waluigi, is just a really special character........he's just unknown!!! but i think they are brothers though!!

Wario was created to give Mario an opposite, as opposed to Bowser being the villain. Ever noticed that Wario is just flipping the 'M' in Mario upside-down?
Waluigi was created to give luigi an opposite, similar to Mario

I believe they are called the Wario bros because it is less awkward, as Sothe suggests.
In the games, Wario is short and very large, while Waluigi is remarkably tall and quite skinny, so i see no relation between them besides as partners

I kinda agree to most of your statements but Wario and Waluigi are for now Rumor Brothers.

Luigi may be taller than Mario but Mario is older. They are twins but as you know, a mother can't give birth to two babies at once. One has to come out first than the other comes out.
Also I got Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic games for DS and there was a point in the game where it mentioned that: The Mario Brothers are twins. Luigi is taller but Mario is older.
So Luigi is younger for sure.
