"But-but-but..." Tim stammered, but Lord Sephiroth shot him a cold glare.
"Damn it, do you not listen? You are NOT leaving, and that is final. Now, we are here to find the Shadow Crystal. According to an old tale I read some time ago, a dark witch hid the Crystal here to protect it from those who would destroy it."
"Uh-huh..." Tim nodded. Maner was about to head for the door, but Tim made a head gesture to stop him.
"A wise decision." Lord Sephiroth said to Maner. He faced Tim again. "To go back outside would be fatal. The only way you are going to be able to save whoever you were trying to save is to assist me. Without the Shadow Crystal, whatever is out there cannot be killed by the usual means."
"So... we can't save our friend until we get the Crystal?"
"Precisely. Now, as a precaution against those who would destroy it, the dark witch also placed many hexes, charms and curses in this place to further protect it. Those can only be dispelled by a being of the Dark Realm, such as myself." He leaned closer to Tim. "So if I were you, Tim... I would advise you to follow my command and do not deviate from my instructions." Lord Sephiroth reared up, and Tim felt his heart pounding. He knew his name, and he hadn't even introduced himself.
"Alright... where do we start?" Maner asked.
"Mmm, before we begin, there are a few other things I should perhaps tell you. The room where the Shadow Crystal is cannot be reached directly, and even then, there are five riddles that must be solved in order to gain access."
Maner snorted. "And you know these riddles, of course."
"Actually, as a matter of fact, no, I do not. One cannot presume that I know everything pertaining to the Shadow Crystal and how to obtain it." Lord Sephiroth rolled his eyes.
"Listen, Lord Sephiroth... after we help you get the Shadow Crystal... can you help us rescue our friend?" Tim asked, his eyes pleading.
"I suppose so, yes."
