Ashen and I are so glad to see so many new posts and stories in the Literature Lounge. We're pleased that there are so many writers willing to share their work with the community. In light of this, we have decided that it would be best to post some short guidelines for submissions into the Literature Lounge. So please, before posting your works, take the time to read these rules and make sure to follow them.

1) Plagiarism is a no-no. That means make sure your work is your own work. No stealing from other writers.

2) No pornography or graphic adult content. Anything containing this will be deleted and AdminAdam will be notified.

3) As per basic forum rules, no swearing.

4) If your story contains violent or disturbing content, please place a content advisory in the subject and at the top of your post. Mods reserve the right to add content advisories.

5) Do not post your work in someone else's story thread. That's just rude.

6) If a story and its chatter gets too complicated, the mods reserve the right to separate them for sanity's sake. (To prevent this, the author may want to limit his/her story to a single post and simply add more chapters via edits but this is only a suggestion.)

7) Please post the actual text of your story, not a link to an outside site. Nobody wants to follow a bot.

8.) Visuals/illustrations are permitted but should be limited in number and must follow the rules of images on the forum (no porn, no graphic content, etc.) For extensive numbers of illustrations, please post them in the museum section.

I hope to see many more posts and activity in the forum and I'm sure Ashen feels the same. If you have any questions, feel free to PM Ashen or I. We hope you'll feel welcome and comfortable both reading and writing in the Literature Lounge. Happy writing!

Yeah, I just recently saw this thread. I was wondering if my series; Mario Brothers Begin, is breaking any rules.
If so, may you PM me?

Thank you for your concern and desire to follow the guidelines, Nitsua94. Actually, though, I've been following your story and I don't think it breaks any rules. Yes, there are mentions of blood but nothing too graphic to warrant an advisory. I'm careful to check and follow all of the stories in the lit lounge and I must say I've been enjoying yours immensely. It's very creative. :D

Aisling, I'm planning to write a story that's probably gonna have a fair amount of blood and gore in it. Since it's necessary to have a content advisory for such things, would I just put that it's a content advisory or should I detail said content advisory? (Ugh, my sense-making is epic fail. As per usual.)

I understand you! It doesn't need to be too detailed beyond "graphic content." If you look down on the front page of the lit lounge, you should find an example of a content advisory. Just go ahead and post your story and if the content advisory needs adjusted I'll take care of it. :)

I was thinking about making a thread to discuss a book I like. I wasn't sure if it should go here, in general chat or in the debate assemblage. Could you tell me which would be the best to post it in?

Yes! Feel free to post here! Most of the recent submissions have been writers posting their stories but that certainly doesn't mean we cannot discuss professional works. I personally would love to broaden our topics!

I was thinking of writing a guide on how to give constructive critique. Would it be okay to post it here?

Also, I have some other stories on the internet which I would like to post, but it would take a long time to post them all here. It's three volumes. So would it be okay to post the first chapter to each volume here then give the offsite link at the end?

I just need to know so that I'm following the rules because I respect said rules.

I think starting a thread on how to give constructive criticisms would be a great idea! Go for it.

As for the off-site links, to prevent clutter, go ahead and post the first chapter and then the link as you suggested, but please do all of them in the same thread. That way there won't be a different thread for each story and will be much neater. :D

Thank you very much for being so respectful of the rules. I and Ashen both truly appreciate your contributions to the Lit Lounge.

Alright, I'll get to work on it later because it's late now.

Alright, thank you very much!

It's what they're there for right? *gasp* Even though they suck? XD

What about posting my favorite poetry and, if it's not mine, give credit to the proper author?

I have 2 fanfics. One is done and the other one I don't think I'll ever finish :P

I'll post the finished stuff here someday.

If the poetry has not been published anywhere else, like if, hypothetically, your best friend wrote it or something. Then you may put it in the Lit Lounge and credit the author. But if it has been published elsewhere, even if it's just DeviantArt, then please avoid posting it. If you want to discuss some of your favorite poetry, feel free to link to an online version or recommend a book where it could be found. Or, feel free to directly quote/reference a specific line or verse (credited, or course), but please don't quote more than a few lines of it.

Did that make any sense? Sometimes, I think I don't make myself very clear. :P
