Have you ever gone to see a movie just for the soundtrack? Or maybe the movie was awesome too, but the soundtrack really stuck with you. What movie has your favourite soundtrack?

For me it's probably Treasure Planet (kids movie based on Treasure Island), LOTR, and anything by Hans Zimmer (sp?).

As you mention Hans Zimmer, I really enjoyed the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtracks. He also did 'The Dark Knight', if I'm not mistaken. Lord of the Rings (Howard Shore) is also a great soundtrack. I thought the first Steve Martin Pink Panther movie had a great soundtrack, including my personal favorite, Perfect day for a Murder.

But apart from those, I really cannot think of any good examples of great soundtracks, because there aren't that many movies that go for a cinematic feel with music, where music is what keeps it interesting, or adds to the excitement. Its not easy for soundtracks to be memorable

Yeah that's true.
I also like the soundtrack from Up! because it was my pointe dance music.

P.S. You can include video game soundtracks too.

Video game soundtracks are a completely different story. A bad soundtrack can hamper a game significantly, and force one to listen in silence. Meanwhile, there are MANY games with great soundtracks.

Final Fantasy has consistently had great soundtracks (see FF OSTs for my list)
---and other Square Enix games, such as Kingdom Hearts
The Halo series has some of the most epic music I have ever heard.
Age of Empires, specifically the second game, I really liked that one
Guild Wars has awesome music in the login screen
Super Mario (and Super Smash, for that matter)

There are just so many games out there, and they all have great soundtracks, so its really a MUCH different question asking about Videogame Soundtracks as opposed to Movie soundtracks

Thanks for pointing that out. I think I'll still keep it open as part of the topic though because a lot of people here are probably more interested in videogames than movies. But it's still mainly favourite movie soundtrack.

Lol, I loved that movie when I was little :). Kids movies often have the best soundtracks.
Speaking of a kids movie with a good sountrack, I loved the El Dorado soundtrack, and the one from Where the Wild Things Are, even though I didn't like the movie.

I'd say the same and also Zimmer and James Newton Howard did The Dark Knight also another great soundtrack

The Brawl and Mario Music are Eternal

Here is a video that I enjoy because it hits home as to my favorite movie soundtrack artist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk5_OSsawz4
Thats right JOHN WILLIAMS! Famous for working with Steven Spielburg/George Lucas some of the best classic movies of all time! :) Star Wars soundtrack=EPIC! Nuff said.

Idk what the best movie soundtrack is, probaly Tron.

Best Video Game soundtrack is any of the 3d Sonic games. I even end up listening to His World like a normal song on my iPhone.
