As the dramatic music faded, the darkness around everyone seemed itself to be laughing at them. Tension mounted and everyone pushed together, their hairs standing on end. Upon the silence returning, the mysterious voice said, "Now..."
Light flooded everyone's eyes in a blinding flash. Once their eyes adjusted, they saw that they were in a massive banquet hall, complete with a long table. No one was in the room. It was absolutely bare.
Save for one man, siting at the head of the table at the other end of the room.
The man stood up and wondering into view for them, laughing smugly as he did. He was dressed in a quality red robe fit for royalty, high-lighted with golden lacing. Considering the place they were in, it seemed as such fitting for royalty. The man was quite old, with a slight, red beard which he rubbed irritatingly for a moment. His bread matched his burning, red hair, which came down his back to his hips. A monocle lay on his right eye as if he needed it to look any more upper-class.
The man spoke to them like honored guest. It was obvious they weren't.
"Welcome to my humble home." greeted the man.
"Humble?" questioned Insanity.
The man chuckled. "I admit, this is an impressive home, I am certainly proud of it."
"Why did you bring us here? Who are you?" asked Matt.
The man eyed Gavin. Everyone looked back to see him holding Char behind him, protectively. "Come now my boy, would you like to introduce us?" Everyone glanced back and forth from Gavin and this man, wondering the obvious.
Gavin spoke up. His eyes never moving from the man. "Very well, Uncle Vladamir."
Everyone was god-shocked. "U-Uncle!?" stuttered JR.
Gavin nodded. "Not by blood. By family."
Everyone looked back at Vlad as he smiled and laughed. "Never in a life-time of eternity would I have suspected you, my nephew, to have forsaken your recoding." He paused, adding, "Or found fancy in a mortal lady."
Gavin tensed. Char felt the grip of his hand tighten. Gavin didn't reply, but she knew he was holding back something vulgar.
Vlad opened his arms to them as a mouth-watering food appeared out of thin air along the massive table. "Come, sit. Eat and drink. I have no quarrel with any of you." Everyone didn't move. They watched Gavin. He didn't move either.
This man was no friend to them. They could read that easily in Gavin's eyes.
THAT'S LORD GAVIN TO YOU!
