As I've said to some, I've been playing through "Super Mario: 3D Land" and I've come across an odd coincidence of sorts.
Shadow Mario, as an official Nintendo character, has changed a great deal over the years he's existed. He first appeared in "Super Mario: Sunshine", appearing as a watery figure with red eyes and his magic paintbrush. He appeared to allow Mario something to chase and hunt down, leaving mischief in his wake.
The next incarnation of him appeared in "Super Mario Galaxy (1)", as "Cosmic Mario" (Debatably a different character, but whatever). Basically, it was a spacy-stary version of the same character (that wasn't Bowser Junior in disguise [SPOILER]). His only purpose was to race Mario in that game.
Next, in "Super Mario Galaxy 2", he appeared as "Shadow Mario" again, as a purple, shadowy figure with yellow glowing eyes. Honestly, it took them long enough to make him properly resemble his true name, but whatever again. His ability this time around was to copy every movement made by Mario, in a sense, chasing him down flawlessly.
Now he's the coincidence:
"The Darkness" in "Stupid Mario Bros." has always been striving to not resemble Mario anymore, in a sense, making himself his own being. Cool stuff, honestly, and I love the more human/dark persona he's always had (though his personality has basically hit the sh*tter in season 5 XP). In part of his process in "Making himself no longer a shadow", he tossed aside the hat and proclaimed he didn't want anything to do with "Him" any longer.
Well... Here's an odd sight.
In "Super Mario: 3D Land", Shadow Mario appears again, but slightly different from his previous Galaxy 2 appearance. He's now in "Normal" Mario form (the form Mario takes when he's down to one hit [NOT Super Mushroom form]) and... He's without a hat.
Well, it appears Richalvarez made a startling fore"shadow"ing of the character in his attempts to write the Darkness' character. Like I said, an odd coincidence.
Comment below on your whole thoughts concerning the Darkness, Shadow Mario, and all relative stuff.
Call me a nerd and... well... I'll have Richie foreshadow something horrible towards you. ;P
